Welcome Back to Term 3!

The studio opens tomorrow (Tuesday 9 July) at the usual times and venues. We look forward to welcome everyone back for Term 3. First on the agenda is the Trinity mid-year exams in two weeks time, so it will be all systems go as we fill the next two weeks with flat out rehearsals for those who have entered these Performance Arts examinations. Entries for the November session have closed.

We would like to thank all the parents who donate an extra R100 on top of the termly fees for the Isithatha Theatre development project. This enables us to continue our work with the disadvantaged children of Walmer Township. We provide free training in dance and drama on Friday afternoons, with the help of several other volunteers. The money we raise goes towards giving these children sandwiches, cooldrinks, fruit, tea and coffee. Many rely on this meal and we cannot thank you enough for this.

Isithatha has just completed an Arts Therapy project together with the University of Johannesburg, and the result is a beautiful mural on the corner of Fordyce Road and 9th Avenue. A Music Therapy course started last week, under the leadership of past Rother Swain/Clarendon Park/ Pearson High School pupil, Janelle Moore, and this project is open to all. Thank you to the Clarendon Park Primary "Drama Llamas" (Grade 7's) who volunteered in the Isithatha costume wardrobe during the holidays. Their efforts are so appreciated! We are working very hard, trying to get our costume wardrobe sorted so that it can become a viable source of income for Isithatha.
