July update

It is with deep sadness that I notify you of the passing of my husband, Gavin. He passed away on 30 June after a two-year battle with Glioblastoma. He displayed tremendous courage and bravery during his illness. We celebrated his life at St Bernadette's Catholic Church on Monday 6th July.

I have been blessed to have been supported by an incredible group of friends and family who have been at my side throughout this difficult time. I am eternally grateful for this support.

Gavin was well-known to many of our parents, pupils and past pupils as he supported me with our annual productions and was an extremely efficient Stage Manager. He also handled accounts and admin.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who sent flowers, gifts and meals and for those who donated to Isithatha through our www.isithatha.co.za/donate link in lieu of flowers. Our Isithatha donations will go towards a new gate at the theatre (something Gavin was actively trying to raise funds for before his hospitalisation) that will increase security on the property.

As you can imagine, I have been unable to focus on a studio production, as promised. I will be working out details for a future production, but right now have to take a step at a time.

Classes continue as usual at the start of the new school term, and we have a good enrolment for Trinity College of London Performance Arts Examinations. I will focus on these for now.

I really hate to disappoint our children but with the loss of Linda-Louise, and now Gavin, it is difficult to think of a production right now.

Thank you for your understanding. Enjoy the rest of the winter break.

Regards

Sharon
